Thats what I thought. If you found some land, and invited peeps to play as long as they had shooting insureance including public liability then you would be OK, as I said BASC membership covers that and its only

You don't have to... many sites haven't.
Yiths correct , Technically you don't have to , however it was set up to enable certain insurance companies to give cover, and you stand the risk of paying more with others if you are not a member.
thanks for all the corrections
in Portaworld, i dont see it as it is in real life,
my policys would be thus.
everyone plays as is, just as a bunch of mates,
anyone found to deliberatly hurting people, running hot guns, being violent etc etc, just gets an ad hoc firing sqd, and a collective "Boot up the arse" and thrown off site.
any trespassing members of the public, frogmarched off site, if they qoute right to roam, another "Boot up the arse"
any form of litigation , we all just wrap up and sod of , just like a travelers campsite.
, MY idea of an airsoft site,
sadly about as realistic as a tony blair promise
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"

Why not? If you play It right you wouldnt have any problems. Some form of individual shooting insurance and thats all youd need unless you wanted to blow stuff up.

On private land away from public roads and footpaths....maybe. But then there's the Right to Roam, so even then you can't guarantee anything!

like tony says, if they come on the land anyway boot em off, if you rope it off for the day ant they ignore the sign then they are asking for trouble. Besides, right to roam only means futpaths, if say you are using a set of old farm buildings or an old industrial site, and they are wondering about willy nilly they are trespassing.

you will always get some tit, wandering on, look at the chav at he arhnem game,
it would have to be RIGHT out in the sticks, which would hamper non drivers on how to get there, unless a shuttle run from the nearest town was availible.
is anyone pally with and eccentric farmer, whos well known for shooting tresspassers????
if we could get in with such a person, all the locals would already be warned of the land anyway

today i was looking at an old mill in rochdale, theres not a day goes by where i dont look at a building/bit of land, and think , Thats a good site ![]()

Ah, a true airsofter - I think we all do the same thing!
Can't but agree that insurance is legalised extortion but the consequences of a member of the public (or even a 'mate') sueing you for personal injury and you aren't insured don't bear thinking about. ![]()

Well I have sent the form in to the land registry yesterday so lets see where I go from there.
Yes I just know they are going to say British Coal still own it and I have wasted

Free speech is expensive these days!

my school has a place at Gisburn Forest in North Yorks (near Tosside) it would be ideal BUT there are problems in getting access that unfortunately are rather difficult to overcome. However what about Fort Paull near Hull? They do historical events there and I'm sure that if something got put on during the day for punters the evening would then be available for play? Eben Emal etc??????
I have the letter back from the land registry.
A woman near here owns 1/3rd and the other 2/3rds is unregistered land.
I feel I need a second opinion on whether to go forwards with it before I approach the 1/3rd owner, she has the coalmine shafts and all the buildings.
She may not even be aware she is the owner, for all I know she could be in her 80's.

I think only about half of the UK land mass has been registered, it's only a legal requirment for new sale/mortgage. It's the owner of the land you need to contact - since a parcel of the land has been registered then you have a point of contact, quite possible she owns it all. (Looks like it was registered when the road was built and land ownership formalised, split and sold)

A good point!
I want a second opinion one the site first from an other airsofter before I contact the owner with some options.

i thinks the location, and type of area would be good, the mineshafts would have to be very well marked/blocked, i cant see them objecting , its not like anyone else would pay them to use the land. its derelict, and not viable for development, i think youd have a long term site maybe??
hope it works, give her a try, at least youll know either way.
the wifes got 10,000,000 jobs for me, but if i get time this week ill try and drive down and take a look with our kid,

Here is a brain wave I have got a comparison picture for us.
Rainford V Arnhem site I would think the size of area could handle 60 players.

Free speech is expensive these days!

Well I spoke to the owner of the coal mine area today and told here what I wanted it for, so she just said well you would not have enough money to buy it.
However she would not tell me how much she wanted even after I mentioned

Free speech is expensive these days!

Perhaps there is a gold seam she is keeping quiet about!
Still,
